UGC vs influencer post, what you get paid for each in Bangkok
By Mai Influence
A brand slides into your DMs with a brief that says "we need UGC". You quote your usual post rate. They ghost. Next week another brand asks for an "influencer post", you quote the same number, they sign. Same deliverable on paper, two different jobs, two different rate cards. If you charge one for the other, you leave money on the table or scare off work you could have won.
Here is the honest 2026 difference, tier by tier, and how to price a hybrid ask before the brand does it for you.
The real split is usage, not format
UGC and influencer posts can look identical on your camera roll. Both are a 30 to 60 second vertical video of you using a product. The difference is where the content lives and whose audience it reaches.
A UGC deliverable is raw footage you hand over. The brand runs it as a paid ad on their own channels, on Meta, TikTok, or Shopee. Your name may not appear. Your followers never see it on your grid. You are a content supplier, not a distribution channel.
An influencer post lives on your own feed. Your face, your handle, your audience, your engagement. The brand gets reach through you, not through you selling them pixels. That distinction sets everything else: rates, usage rights, exclusivity clauses, how long the asset stays alive.

Typical UGC rates in Bangkok, 2026
UGC in Bangkok is priced per asset, not per follower, because the brand is buying production and licence, not reach. Tier still matters because buyers assume higher-tier creators ship cleaner footage.
Rate ranges below are for a single 30 to 60 second vertical, one round of revisions, 3 month paid-usage on brand channels. Add 30 to 60 percent for every additional 6 months of usage, or for whitelisting on the creator handle.
- Nano tier (5K to 20K followers): typical THB 3,500 to 6,000 per video, top quartile up to THB 9,000.
- Micro tier (20K to 100K followers): typical THB 6,000 to 15,000 per video, top quartile up to THB 25,000.
- Macro tier (100K+ followers): typical THB 15,000 to 35,000 per video, top quartile up to THB 60,000 when the creator is known for a specific shooting style the brand is literally buying.
If the brief says "UGC pack of 3", price each asset individually and give a 10 to 15 percent bundle discount, not a flat 50 percent chop. Three videos is three shoot days worth of logistics.
Typical influencer post rates in Bangkok, 2026
Influencer posts are priced on a mix of reach, engagement, and audience quality. A single in-feed Instagram post with one story set is the most common Bangkok ask.
- Nano tier: typical THB 4,500 to 10,000 per post plus story set, top quartile up to THB 15,000 when engagement rate is north of 6 percent.
- Micro tier: typical THB 10,000 to 30,000, top quartile up to THB 55,000 for strong niche audiences like skincare, finance, or parenting.
- Macro tier: typical THB 30,000 to 120,000, top quartile well past THB 200,000 at 500K+ with proven conversion history.
A reel costs 1.3 to 1.8x a static. A TikTok post is priced in the same band as a reel. A YouTube integration sits in its own universe, usually 2 to 4x the Instagram post rate at the same follower count.
If a brand offers UGC money for a post on your handle, they are asking you to work two jobs and get paid for one. Say so, in those words.
Where UGC quietly eats your rate card
The trap in 2026 is scope drift. A brand books UGC at a UGC rate, then quietly asks you to "also post it on your channel for extra reach, no need to tag us as paid, super chill". That sentence is a THB 10,000 to 50,000 line item hidden inside a "quick favour".
Three scope-creep moves that cost you money if you do not catch them in writing:
- The brand reposts your UGC on their Instagram and tags your handle, driving your followers to their account without a whitelisting fee.
- The brand runs your UGC as a dark post paid ad targeting your follower demographic, which is exactly the audience you were planning to monetise next quarter.
- The brand uses your UGC as b-roll inside a longer celebrity spot, which triggers a talent-adjacency comparison your rate card never priced in.
Every one of those is a separate line on your quote. Pricing hybrids before the brief lands is the single easiest way to lift your annual take. You can set a tiered rate card on your free creator profile on Mai Influence and point brands at it instead of quoting from scratch every time.

How to price a hybrid ask
Hybrid asks are now the default Bangkok brief. "Two UGC videos, one post on your Instagram, we whitelist for 60 days." That is not one deliverable, it is three priced items with a usage layer on top.
Price it like this. Start with your UGC per-asset rate times the number of assets. Add your influencer post rate for the on-grid piece. Add 25 to 40 percent of the influencer post rate as a whitelisting fee for the 60 days of paid amplification on the creator handle. Hand the brand a single invoice with three clear lines, not one lump sum, so when they push back you can negotiate the specific line instead of your whole fee.
If the brand only has budget for part of it, cut scope, not rate. Drop the whitelisting, drop one UGC asset, drop the second platform. Never discount the unit price itself, because once a brand knows you flex on unit price they will test it on every future brief.
When to accept UGC-only work
UGC is not a lower-status job. For nano and micro creators it can out-earn influencer posts by the end of the year because UGC rates do not depend on your follower growth, they depend on shooting quality. Shooting quality is in your control from day one. Follower growth is not.
Take UGC work when the brand pays for a defined usage window in writing, when the brief names the platforms the asset will run on, and when the kill-fee covers at least 50 percent if the brand pivots after you shoot. Pass on UGC work when the contract says "unlimited usage, worldwide, in perpetuity". That phrase on a Bangkok UGC brief is the single clearest signal the brand is buying a full buyout for a sampling fee.
Charge for the job in front of you, not the vibe the brand is giving off. UGC and influencer posts are two different products. Price them that way.
