Celebrity vs creator roster: where Bangkok SMBs win
By Mai Influence
Every quarter a Bangkok SMB founder messages us with the same question. A talent agency has quoted THB 800,000 for a six-month package with a top-10 Thai actor. Should they take it, or should they spread the same money across twenty creators instead? The honest answer depends on exactly two things, and most agencies will not tell you which one your business is in.
What the celebrity fee buys
A top-tier Thai celebrity in 2026 lands between THB 600,000 and THB 1,500,000 for a standard six-month ambassador package. That typically covers two shoot days, four social posts, one event appearance, and limited usage rights on paid media for six months. B-list actors and known lakorn names sit in the THB 150,000 to THB 500,000 range for a similar scope. The agency commission on top is usually 15 to 20 percent, and the shoot production bill is yours to carry.
What the fee is really buying is a single, high-reach signalling event. One face, one name, one piece of social proof. If your category is one where buyers rely on a familiar face to break a decision gridlock, that signal is worth paying for. Beauty counters, premium condominium launches, and insurance products are the clearest examples. Buyers in those categories need permission to spend, and a known name provides it.

What the roster buys instead
Spread the same THB 800,000 across twenty vetted creators and the shape of what you get changes completely. You trade a single hero asset for twenty angles, twenty posting dates, twenty comment sections, and twenty audiences that overlap less than most brands assume. On the Mai Influence roster, THB 40,000 buys a credible mid-micro deliverable (20,000 to 100,000 followers), which is enough to cover one Reel, one static post, and whitelisting for a thirty day paid window.
The roster approach wins when the buying decision is habit-shaped rather than permission-shaped. Food delivery, F&B promotions, home services, local gyms, and most e-commerce SKUs under THB 2,000 behave this way. Buyers are not waiting for a celebrity to validate the choice. They are waiting to see the product referenced three times in a week by people who look like their own feed.
The 2026 rate reality
Here is the plain comparison most Bangkok decks will not show side by side.
- One A-list celebrity, six months, two shoot days, four posts: THB 800,000 to THB 1,500,000, plus production.
- One B-list celebrity, same scope: THB 150,000 to THB 500,000, plus production.
- Twenty mid-micro creators, one Reel and one static each: THB 700,000 to THB 900,000, no shared production bill.
- Six macro creators (100,000 plus followers), two deliverables each: THB 900,000 to THB 1,400,000.
- Mixed roster, one B-list name plus ten micro creators: THB 500,000 to THB 800,000, often the strongest ROAS on paid amplification.
The mixed roster line is the one most SMBs underweight. A recognisable face at the top of the funnel plus ten mid-micro creators doing the retargeting work tends to outperform either extreme on paid social, because the celebrity post becomes the hero creative and the creator posts become the lookalike seeds.

When to pick which
If your buyer needs permission to spend, hire the face. If your buyer needs reminders to spend, hire the roster.
That is the whole decision in one sentence. New luxury category entrants, regulated financial products, and premium clinics usually need the face. QSR, local coffee chains, delivery apps, D2C skincare under THB 1,500, and most app installs usually need the roster. Fashion and travel sit in the mixed zone and benefit from the hybrid.
The second filter is cash flow. A celebrity package demands most of the fee up front, with a shoot date locked three to six weeks ahead. A creator roster lets you stagger spend across the quarter, pause after the first wave if the hook is weak, and reroute budget to whichever three creators drove the strongest comments. For a Bangkok SMB with lumpy cash cycles, that optionality is worth real money.
If you want help modelling the split for your specific category and the current roster rates, book a brand call and bring your target CAC and your last two months of ad spend. Fifteen minutes is usually enough to tell you which lane your product sits in.
